looking for good shop to try on shoes in sydney

Postby nickj_d » Fri Mar 20, 2009 3:04 pm

Can anyone recommend a good bike shop in Sydney that carries stock of various brands of shoes that I can try on? (I live near Kellyville so looking somewhere in the north-west of the city).

I am looking for an entry level mountain bike shoe similar to Shimano SH M086. Most places I've seen only really carry the Shimano but they don't quite fit right (46 too small, 47 too big - I also have a narrow foot). I was wanting to try other brands to see if I could get one that fits.

Also, what are thoughts on ratchet straps as opposed to just velcro straps? I've never worn clip in cycling shoes before, but I can suffer from cramps in my feet doing other activities so suspect I'll be prone to the same if wearing cycling shoes too tight.

I'll be using them on a road bike, but am looking at mtb shoes for the convenience of being able to walk in them as well.

I'd head for Penrith. It's not *too* far from Kellyville, and there's a number of quite large bike shops there.

Plus being an MTB area, they will have a good range of the shoes you are looking for.

I don't like ratchets for offroad. Just another thing that can break. Look at some of the Specialised range of MTB shoes.
