Mail order stores - Au and overseas

Postby nickobec » Tue Apr 14, 2009 11:41 pm

Looking for recommendations of places to buy from and those to avoid.

The recommendations I have seen so far here are Wiggle and PBK (probikekit).

CRC

torpedo7

cell

Evans cycles

All are ok depending on what you want. UK sites seems to be the best in general, the locals (Torpedo7 and cell) are good for cheap clothing and the like

I recently purchased from Jensonusa.com as I found what I wanted (two sets of v-brake compatible road brake levers) cheaper than CRC, and postage was cheaper, surprisingly. Plus easy to use web page with prices in AUD option and all postage costs calculated and shown

I have also ordered some well discounted, hard to find parts from icyclesusa.com with no probs

$72.72 to deliver two GP 4000 S tyres  ... you have to be kidding .... their price on two tyres was around $93 + delivery. I can get the same from PBK for around this price delivered.

I've only ever bought from Velogear.
They have always been cheaper than the other online stores, and nearly every time I've purchased they've thrown in free shipping.

G'day

Went to do my standard price check test ... pair of Continental GP 4000 S tyres. They don't stock them; in fact from the look of their listing of tyres, I didn't bother to explore further. Couldn't see the point if one of the main road tyre brands is not listed.

Regard
Andrew
