Assos sizing

Postby snedden9485 » Thu Oct 01, 2009 9:52 am

Im thinkin of getting some new assos knicks. I wear size 2 (small) and size 3 (med) nalini knicks, which both fit me pretty well. The small fit me fine, just come up a little higher on my quad, which is ok. What size should i go in Assos? I have heard they are generally one size smaller then normal (eg if your a med, you wear large assos). Thinking the medium would be the go for me. I am 184cm tall and 70kg (pretty skinny  ).

Did you look at their sizing guide? Height and weight are the most important dimensions.

I think the assos fit is a little different depending on which nicks you get. Assos says the F1 13 is tighter fitting than the F1 Mille. I just recieved some medium Mille's, and at 178 cm and 72 kg the fit is good. Could be a little tighter around the leg grippers perhaps. There is a fair bit of tension on the bib straps when standing up tho - so i suspect a small would be too small for me and pull the boys in a bit too tight.

186cm, 68-69kg.

I took a stab at a pair of FI Uno S5's last order. I have some Pearl Izumi bibs in medium that fit ok, and went for Assos Large. I think they could be tighter, however the inseam is pretty short. The strap height is fine, they don't pull when on the bike but are tight standing up, there is still heaps of stretch in the straps so I don't think a smaller size would matter here. They are still very comfortable on the bike and the padding is in the right place, which is not the case with the Izumi Large knicks I purchased before losing weight. I would like to know what the inseam measurement for the Assos medium and small is, as personally, I could probably fit into both.

Nalini small was way to tight around the leg grippers for me - they were almost at maximum stretch because of a very short inseam. Medium is the right size, though I don't own a pair so can't comment on the bike fit or comfort.

I'd give medium a go - I think you will find they will fit as you sound like a similar size to me. My next pair will likely be medium.

F5 Uno shorts are $240 at Assos Oz, where they are $170 in UK, with free post.

According to the sizing guide, i would wear large. In length a large would be the go, but i think the size may be better in a medium. I like my shorts abit higher on the quads.
