Fair enough then. Did you mention *all* of this to Zipp? Are the other outlets internet only or bricks and mortar?

It is not only PBK, actually all UK dealer of Zipp has been directed not to ship any wheels to Australia. However, I do know that personal sales and 2nd item are not covered in the stupid dealer agreement. I have successfully, ask my family back in Scotland to ship wheelsets into AU without any problem as long as you pay the import duty. If the AU dealer not learn, maybe some shops one day will be willing to ride the dam zipp wheel for 100km then sell it as 2nd hand.r2160 wrote:Actually, up until earlier this year, I was an importer of products from the US until I sold the business. I also used to receive these kinds of emails regularly from my suppliers and customers. What it did was made me consider more things than simply being able to charge what I liked regardless of what the rest of the world did.
I was open-minded enough to listen to what was being said, talk to my suppliers, and try to get the best situation for all. If nothing is ever said, nothing will ever change.
By actually mentioning what is happening, I would at least expect the parties involved to re-evaluate the situation. Whether there is an outcome that favours anybody remains to be seen.
But it isn't only PBK that charge these amounts. It wasn't hard to find numerous retail outlets selling the same product for similar prices. If Zipp decided to penalise PBK, they would have to penalise most of the retail outlets all over the world. When I do a search for Zipp products, I get shops from all over the US and England that are all hovering around the same sort of price, and all still markedly cheaper than we seem to be able to buy them for here.
cheers
Glenn
What Zipp do, will only force me not to buy any of their products in AU, do they really think we are idiots? AUD $4XXX for a set of Zipp wheels, no offence to Zipp's quality but that is a price for a set of Lightweight.

Keep this quite then. Evanscycles has Mavic rims with no mention of not shipping to Aust. I'm gonna get a pair of Mavic A719 from them on Wed night, I'll let you know how it goes.brauluver wrote:Looks like the same now applies to Mavic rims.

I just queried Ribble about the exorbitant rates for shipping Mavic Rims to Australia. $389 for two Open Pro rims
See below the response
Local LBS is $160 per rim compared to Evans $80ea (Free delivery ) Ribble was even cheaper until the freight "discouragement" was applied.
See below the response
The reason - no warranty, what a load of BS.The website is brand new and should stop customers from outside the UK from ordering Mavic products but this function does not work at present. We have the web guys trying to sort this and in the meantime have made the carriage rates extraordinarily high to discourage sales. The reason for this is Mavic will not offer warranty on any parts unless they are purchased within your own country.

T'is Xmas
Me stocking up on anything cycling related is strongly frowned upon by GLW at this time of the year.

No probs, I ordered a set of Mavic A719s from Evans Cycles last Monday, and they arrived last Friday. I couldn't get them on c r c because they won't ship outside of EUBaalzamon wrote:Keep this quite then. Evanscycles has Mavic rims with no mention of not shipping to Aust. Price I paid for the rims was insanely cheaper than the local price! LBS was asking $160 each, I got them for $66 each, so even both rims were cheaper then the cost of one rim here!
