I know Cell a while back had Zipp 404 Firecrest clinchers going at $1899, but they no longer have them. I'm in the market for replacement wheels after an off on the weekend.
I've been looking around Wiggle and even with my discount, the cost is a bit painful. I'm also wary of the import duties for anything above $1000. I have some time to wait as the bike is in at the LBS getting checked over and some other repairs.

No functional difference, as far as fitting them. Folding bead are simply lighter & easier to store.BurtO wrote:I was about to go ahead an order the Conti GP4000 deal from Wiggle, but I see they are folding tyres, I haven't used folding before, is there something I should know or are they the same as wire bead ??

Hi burto was this the deal with the 5 inner tubes and two tyres? Or the two tubes? as the deal with the two tubes only comes with colour tyres.BurtO wrote:I was about to go ahead an order the Conti GP4000 deal from Wiggle, but I see they are folding tyres, I haven't used folding before, is there something I should know or are they the same as wire bead ??

DA 7900 C35 Clincher wheelset going for $1080 at Wiggle....g-boaf wrote:Has anyone spotted Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 C50 Clincher wheels going cheap? Or HED Jet 5 clinchers?
http://www.this link is broken.au/shimano-dura-a ... -wheelset/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Add code WHEEL-10, brings it down to $972, pretty good deal imho.

$1799 for 7900 C50 clinchers at http://mymountain.com.au/p/5160462/shim ... elset.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (I'd ring first to check they actually have them in stock as they have been discontinued now)g-boaf wrote:Has anyone spotted Shimano Dura-Ace 7900 C50 Clincher wheels going cheap? US$1495 for Zipp 404 clinchers at http://www.bicycleoutfittersindy.com/pr ... pp404s.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (deduct 15% discount for first time buyers if you use the coupon from the front page)
There shouldn't be any duty or GST payable on wheels if buying from o/s

Maybe if they are under a 1000AUD.
Otherwise you are paying tax sonny.

I've bought 2 sets from o/s both over $1K, first set I didn't know any better and neither did customs and got charged Duty/GST, second set I didn't and customs gave me all the numbers I needed for exemption. I'll check my emails and see if I can find details.durianrider wrote:No GST on wheels coming from OS?

If you just want a cheap jersey, that is a pretty good price.

That's cheaper than anyone but Ribble.
