What I'm trying to say is, if I buy all of the parts separately, it comes out to $250. Since I am buying from another re-seller they still need to make a profit out of me (and the manufacturer needs to make a profit out of the re-seller etc.). I assume from this that Pro-Lite must be making a fair bit from each wheel, especially if they can buy the parts in bulk at a lesser price. Compared to other companies I guess pro-lite's profit margin is lower, but their R,D and technology/marketing seem to be too.
Cool!

I'll have a set for $250! Do you take credit card? Can it be on the courier today?

I'm assuming from your comments you won't need money for your time in building or selling them.

In all seriousness though, there are plenty of things that are heaps cheaper to do yourself, if you don't add a value for your time, the skills involved or the need to make a living from it.

I knew I overlooked something :oops: ... It didn't quite feel right and I stand corrected. I always build for myself so money for building or selling them never really gets considered :? and I apologies for overlooking it. What my point was was that if I could get the parts for $250, with the manufacturer and the re-seller making money out of me, what price would pro-lite be able to source these wheels at?

For a sale price of $500, Pro-lite International (the MFG) would be sourcing at $50-100ish per wheel, including labour. This doesn't include setup, design, R&D, warrantee claim costs which I assume are reasonably large.

So you're probably looking at a cost, all up, of $150. Being generous with those above sunk costs.

Manufacturer, distributor, and retailer tend to markup 50-100%. Retailers aim for 100%. Manufacturers and distros tend to mark up less because they move large quantities, and take less risk than a shop does.

But the same thing is going on here as any other locally sold brand. The Aussie distro just don't get a very good deal (relatively speaking) from pro-lite international, because they can't move enough product.

Not really a special, but I would buy this if I lived in NSW. Beautiful condition for it's age...

Torpedo special was only for black Shimano. I would have preferred silver.

Cycling Express have Ultegra 6700 Carbon pedals for $140 only until 31/10 - not sure if this means beginning or end of day

http://www.cyclingexpress.com/cycle/com ... edals.aspx#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Did a quick check of the usual suspects in the UK and these save a fair bit (up to around $50 from what I've seen).

It's a scam. You click on buy now and it just redirects you to wiggle.

Goes to other stores too (not just wiggle) for cycling stuff.

I finally decided to get a Garmin 500 with cadence and HRM package, and Wiggle, Evans and c r c are all within a few dollars of each other, at around $241-$255. Is there any current voucher code for any of these sites to make this a little cheaper?
