Opportunity has just come up to buy one secondhand, low k's only nine months old. 20 speed Ultegra groupset for about $1400. Think I've already made my mind  up but your opinions are valued.

If it's the right size, go for it!

For that price, you'd be nuts not to have a damn good look over her.

Well, I did it. Size was right, went over the carbon and groupsetwith a fine tooth comb, wheels are true and took it for a ride of a few k's tonight. Bar small chips off the tips of a couple of teeth on the large chainring which had no effect on the shifting it rides very smooth, shifts are sharp. Not a scratch or scuff on the frame or fork. Think I may have got a reasonably good deal.

Nice. Your bars on the Apollo look as crowded as mine  . I am thinking I need a wider bar .... well I do anyway I think.

Nice pick up on the Giant - good work!

I see the Apollo has clip in rocket launchers. Cool! Perfect for errant pedestrians who refuse to share the pathways.

Cheers,
Graeme

Its been wet and windy over here, and someone did say that carbon dissolves in the rain  So she's been hanging from the rafters in the shed while I've given it a thorough going over( the bike that is). Did not fancy it crumbling under me at speed and I'm happy to report that there were no more faults found. Had a few short 1/2 hour rides between chores and showers and its a blast, smooth even with 110psi in the tyres.
I'm still a little apprehensive, there's got to be something wrong with it at that price, yet to find it tho.

Rocket launchers?lol They are clips for the 2 Fenix L2Ds photon canons and below are the launchers for the 2 Ultrafire C2s, it gets dark out here in the West. They turn off the gas for the street lights after dark.

Yeah, I agree! :D When overtaking pedestrians, instead of calling out, "Passing on the left", do you yell, "Fire in the hole"!!!??
