Avanti Sizing

Postby themonstro » Thu Jul 29, 2010 10:06 pm

I'm planning to buy an Avanti Quantum. I don't know which size to get though.

I am a 5"11, 18 year old with unproportional arm length (shorter than average 18 yr old).

Would a size 55 (M) or a 56.5 (L) suit me?

I'm 170cm tall riding a 55cm frame Avanti Corsa, you'd be fine with either, will depend on your riding position.

Quantum is the aggressive/race geometry or for the more flexible rider
Cadent is the more relaxed geometry making you sit up a bit more

The LBS should be fitting you up anyway so would be providing more practical measurements.

Im about 180cm and riding a 56(L) and the LBS said i should be on a size smaller for my flexibility and arm reach

Depends on what you mean by disproportional arm length. Only way you can be sure is to go check some bikes out and see what works for you and what doesn't. Maybe a different manufacturer has a better option. Good luck anyway.

As others have said get the shop to fit you properly to a bike and then read the size sticker.

I am 5'11" (with long legs, short arms when compared to average) and rode a 54cm (M) Avanti Vivace which was a relaxed geo frame.

Avanti Vivace = Sold | Trek Madone = Cracked | '12 Caad10 = Sold | Pinarello SDG3K | '14 Caad10 & Bianchi Pista

5'11" riding a size L 2008 Avanti Corsa (56.5cm) if that helps.
