Hi

I guess I'm beginning to experience the challenges associated with buying a 2nd hand, albeit gorgeous, bike.
(Koga Miyata Advance. As far as I can ascertain this is a touring model and was built around 2004.
http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... HDdt9kY3z0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)

My current seatpost is a "Post Moderne 26.8mm" and needs to be replaced. (Seems model is no longer available; returns 0 results on Google)

LBS isn't being very helpful, and I'm struggling to understand all the acronyms and descriptions on returned Google results. I am concerned that going to a different make/model is going to change my seating position as it appears one needs to understand post angles and seat position on the post as well. (Not very mechanically minded I guess. :? )

Can anyone suggest a suitable alternative? Or better still, have a disused one in the shed somewhere to sell!

TIA

Many BMX sat posts are 26.8mm.

The "clamp" is either inline with the post or offset. Just get a post that is the same. You can always move the seat on the rails a little if the off set is a little different.

lots of choice

Ritchey Comp V2 Seat Post (2-Bolt)

System EX Alloy Seat Post

Get a smaller post if necessary and shim it. You can buy shims or make them with a soft drink can.

Thanks. I will follow up on the named brands and possibly a smaller seatpost size.
