Thank you for your concern. However, they do not come in white and are too hot. I have found suncream to be the better alternative for the mentioned body parts.

Ummm, that's a product for winter
I use sun sleeves regularly, and suncream on the face and neck.
As I swaet heaps, it's a PITA, but better than the alternative.
I'd rather take a few precaustions and lessen the risk of cancer.
As someone mentioned before, a bit of water on the sleeves works great

I was going to joke that i'd be up for wearing a sun-o-clava, but I'm glad I didn't.
Anyway, this would probably provide better protection from sun as well as hypothermia, and also remain relatively inconspicuous.

I tried a banana boat waterproof/sweat proof sunscreen. After 4 and half hours I still had heaps of coverage on my face.

My sweat didn't wash it off like other sunscreens or the zinc I have used. Of course there may be nano particles now killing me on the inside.

If they could do an "ultra light" doover for the neck, I'd consider going for it on the super bad rides (midday summer). Really gotta get a headgear thing sorted... head is getting owned.

Cooler than bare skin.

I wouldn't totally discount the cooler than bare skin claim. While they cover up all the skin, you'd think they might over heat. But they are also deflecting heat radiation from your bare skin - so in effect keeping it a little cooler than usual. I'll be in a better position to tell after a few rides. But on a recent long ride, I never felt bothered to take them off.

I wouldn't totally discount the cooler than bare skin claim. While they cover up all the skin, you'd think they might over heat. While sitting atthe lights yesterday, in full afternoon sun, my arms (wearing sun sleeves) were definitely cooler than bare skin.
However, while moving, the sleeves prevent a lot of cooling you might get from air flow over the skin. It's a trade off - get burnt / skin cancers or be a little bit warmer?

Pearl Izumi ones seem to look legit and if this summer sun continues, !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !!'s going to get worse. Is there any equivalent on TP7 or Wiggle? Everything seems to come up as arm warmers instead.

I use the Pearl Izumis and don't find them hot at all.
As they are knitted, be careful about snagging them on snaggable things - I have a small hole in one sleeve - still works though.
I think that mrhorsey's link is the recumbent rider's model for sun protection for the head.

Just got this message from Dan from cell regarding the Pearl Izumi stock.
Unfortunately due to the large demand for that product the supplier is totally out of stock so we won't be restocking them in the immediate future.

Yes, I have been using a pair commuting for the last few weeks (Christmas present to myself). They are ultra thin and light and pretty cool, but not as cool as bare arms.
I think they are so thin that they still let a fair amount of sunlight through, if you did a 150km ride in the sun I reckon you would still get burnt arms. A few years ago I had a white rashie made of similar material and after a day at the beach would still have sunburnt shoulders.
Slightly thicker material would be the go.

I have some that are designed for golf, I think the brand is 'SP Arms', where SP = sun protection. My father in law spotted them at his local pro shop and very thoughtfully sent them to me. I'd much rather get hot (and really, it's so hot here that sleeves don't make much difference) than burned.

I've worn them on 100Km rides with no problems; they are thin material but I believe they're SPF 50+...

I have the yellow and white ones. THey are the same material!
Bear in mind that you'll probably still get some exposure if you're commuting 2 hours a day like me even through them. I'm golden brown and only missed the sleeves 5 times all summer

We're rolling around to summer again, so I thought I'd resurrect this thread, how long are people's sun sleeves? Do you put them over or under your jersey sleeves?
I'm a little tight so I'll probably buy the cheap eBay ones to begin with and see how they go, surely I'll get my money's worth for under $2...
