Bit the bullet, bought a new Saddle from Specialized shop

After going through about $400 worth of saddles and not being comfortable, I finally bit the bullet and payed full retail for a saddle at the specialized shop today after having my butt measured.

Reckon i probably paid double what i could get it for online, but i can take it back and get replacements until i find the one that's right, which is worth much more than the extra $60 or so i reckon i paid.

Fingers crossed i get something comfy, the fizik i'm riding makes my gooch numb.

Anyone else got a story/saga about finding the right saddle?

What did you get? I've been using a Toupe Expert for a while now and my crack and sack loves it.

Did you get a toupe or a romin (or one of the other models)? I know everyone's butt is different but for me, toupe is the only choice. I've got the Ti model on my carbon bike and the next level down toupe on my Aluminum bike and both are perfect. I don't own Specialized bike and probably never will, they just don't float my boat, but I swear by their saddles.

I must have a Specialised shaped arse as I have a Romin and an Avatar and have done a lot of "biggish" miles on both and me, my arse and my saddle are still the best of friends.

I must admit the Avatar is probably the most comfortable of the two but it does have the most gel and a bit heavier. Did 134K ride on Sunday on the Romin and didn't complain at all.

I swear by Specialized saddles as well - on my second Avatar - nothing else comes close for long ride comfort

I got the Toupe (lower end, 220-30 grams i think - $125), haven't mounted it up yet.. I sat on a bike with it mounted, didn't feel great, but i guess i have to put a few hundred k's on it to really know.
is great that you can replace if it's not a good fit.
Fingers crossed.

I have this one - http://www.specialized.com/au/en-au/ftb ... o-comp-gel" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I wanted to go lighter weight, but was a little strapped for cash at the time. I have found it to be great.

No troubles on a quick ride this morning on the new saddle. At the point where the Fizik was starting to cause me discomfort, i was still ok on the Specialized.
Bodes well for future rides, will give it a crack out to West Head tomorrow and see how i fare.

I used a Toupe for a week a while ago after all the hype and it felt like I'd been raped by an elephant. Never ceases to amaze me how one person's torture device is anothers lounge chair :-)

When you find a saddle you really like, my advice is to buy at least one as a spare so you don't have to go through the exercise of finding a good one too soon into the future.

Dude, your wife was raped by an elephant? I'm so sorry to hear, that's awful.

I'm not 100% sure it's the saddle for me yet, but it's already better than the Fizik i was on. It's an expensive exercise finding the right saddle. I have a stock Giant road saddle on my commuter which fits like a glove, but they don't sell it, i got it 2nd hand on ebay, otherwise i'd probably just find another to buy.
