8 speed internal hub VS Single speed VS 3 speed.

Hi all.

I would love to know what you think of using a Sturmey Archer 8 speed internal rear hub, a single speed bike and a 3 speed.

I have picked out a few custom bikes from the web such as the "Jelly bean Bikes 3 speed", the "2012 Reid Griffon Singlespeed from Reid Cycles" and the "Duke.
Mojo Bike with the Sturmey Archer 8 speed internal rear hub".

I will be purchasing one to ride to uni, around town and to the mall. I am not an experienced rider and I do not want it to be a road bike.

I would really love to know what you think of these 3 different options and help me out to which would suit me best.
Negatives and Positives preferably.

If these are not suitable or reliable please recommend me others that are under $1000.

A lot of it will depend on where you are and what the terrain is like (flat, hilly etc.). You'll need to let us know, but any of those options will work in the right place.
