Crankset/Bottom Bracket Purchase

Hi there,
Surly say for the frame I'm looking at (Ogre) that the Bottom Bracket specs: 73mm shell width, threaded standard English (1.37" x 24t)

I've been offered some Thorn cranks with a square tapered hole for the BB.

Do I need to know anything with regards to the BB before purchasing the cranks?

or can I just buy them and decide on the quality and length of the BB for a 54mm chainline later?

Yes, you can do this. You will need a bb with a 118mm spindle if I recall correctly.

I just clicked on ebay auction 190776314549.
Seems like a nice bloke as he said he's rushing off to post them now.
Hopefully these will do a turn and that I'm able to get a 36T chainring for in the future to bring down the gearing in a 29er Rohloff wheelset.
They will still suit a 26 inch if I decide to bail on that idea.

Have to see what fun I have trying to run it without an outside chainguard ring.

Hmmmmmm might have jumped the gun on these as its not clear to me exactly which model they are.
Ah well, the dice have been rolled now and its in the hands of the deities.
Hopefully they are useable even if I've paid over the odds.

Update: Well he's true to his word with regards going to post it immediately as I've already received a tracking number.
