Full carbon, full 105 for $999 http://www.bikebug.com/bikes-road-silve ... -5113.html
Seems like an amazing deal or am I missing something here? what do you guys think? Adam
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999looks like the previous version of Shimano 105. Still, good buying.
Litespeed Tuscany with SRAM Force and Open Pros - soon!
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Yep pretty good buy, only name brand snobs would turn their nose up.

cool. even better buying then! Litespeed Tuscany with SRAM Force and Open Pros - soon!
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999That's not a bad price for 2nd hand, let alone new.

Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Does anyone know anything about Silverback and if the frame and build quality is good?
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Even if the frame turns out to be crap. Bin it, buy a new sora spec'd Giant and move the 105 stuff over and you'd still be miles ahead. Even better, buy a second hand one for even less!
What is the freight cost tho?
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999It is only from Sydney and free shipping to Aus.
Really the price is pretty much equivalent to an alloy Tiagra equipped Giant - and Giants are generally considered good value. Not for me but looking for the Lady, who is new to riding but I want to avoid too much upgrading over and over again.
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Frame looks to be a Chinarello variant.
For the price, it looks good. Sucky wheels, but, hey, the price is pretty awesome. "My bicycle masters boardwalk and quagmire with aplomb. Those that doubt me... suck THUMB by choice."
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999From its riding position would this be considered a sports touring/ commuting to work couple of times a week or more of a weekend racer?
Thanks
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999If the company is half as good as its website says it is, then you are on a winner!
Seriously, a full carbon bike with that spec at that price is an absolute bargain. Buy it before I do. Axeman74
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999I just had a look at their website. its a 2012 model and weighs 8.4kg.
They have some very interesting bikes in the upper range of their catalogue, including a nice Dura-Ace and disc brake equipped road bike. http://www.silverbacklab.com/2011_websi ... pro_13.htm
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Been looking at getting my first roadbike for a while now, I had set myself a $1500 limit .... anyway went into the local Goldcross on the weekend and they barely had anything left in the way of roadbikes.
The guy said they hadn't been restocked since xmas, although i did notice they had a few of the Flight CR2 carbon 105 equipped bikes on display for $999 but they were all in small/medium sizes. Anyway he said i was a few weeks late and didnt like my chances of finding one in my size at the other stores..... so i did the ring around and scored one from Camberwell The salesman said they were also selling the ultegra equipped CR1 for $999 but staff got first look at them and then when the sale started people were lined up waiting for the doors to open. Very happy with my purchase
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999for a few hundred dollars more here's an ultegra bike

Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999
Except the crankset isn't Ultegra (FSA) nor are the brakes (Tektro).
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999
I don't think there is anything wrong with the FSA crankset, online it costs more than the ultegra crankset
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999
Perhaps but the quality of front shifting is always better when you use a Shimano crankset with a Shimano chain and front derailleur, . Many, many people have problems with front shifting using FSA cranksets (do an internet search if you don't believe me).
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999so picked one up yesterday, took it home and assembled it..
when silverback put the chain on they stuffed the joining pin so i had to push the pin out and use a joining link, no biggy had one there anyway. if you have no exprience putting bikes together you will need to get a LBS to do it for you, the brake cables need to be shortned, hi/lo limits set on the front and rear mechs, rear mech adjusted, front mech loosened off and put on in the correct spot, headset greased, shifters put on the bars straight etc, took me about a hour of work to get it ready to ride, i rode it with the stock wheels to start with to get a idea on the bike and compare it to my giant TCR, the frame feels great, nice and stiff and handled great around corners, gear changes were great both front and rear, only changes im going to make to it are a set of Giant Contact bars the same as my other bike and a set of Fulcrum Quattro wheels with GP4000 tyres, overall for $999 im flying bicycles stocked, will make a great training bike and wet weather bike ![]()
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999its the XXL or 60cm,
its actually .5cm shorter in the top tube than a large Giant TCR advanced is..
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Seems like an amazing deal, how do they do it?

Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999I'd like to share my little experience with this bike too. I got it friday last week and managed to get them $1k assembled. I needed to check all the bolts after I found one of the stem bolt was quite loose. The brakes and derrailleurs also needed some little adjustments.
On sunday I went for a 40ks ride with a good friend who owns a caad8 105. We switched the bike to test it and we both agreed that in general this bike is simply better, smoother, and its cheaper price makes it a very good deal, especially if you don't care about the brand.
Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999It just occurred to me that this might be a gorilla marketing campaign.

Re: Full carbon, full 105 for $999Did 40k on it last night.
Seat post and seat flex more than anything I have ever sat on.. Will replace today with a cheap alloy post and a fizik arione.. Apart from that its brilliant! The fulcrum Quattro wheels are tops as well best wheels I have ridden for a long time
