All Round Wheelset

Now before you start hitting the capslock or the shift keys to "kindly remind" me that there are 3 more threads on wheel, I can assure you I have read through them and I can confirm I found no more than nothing.

So here I am. After purchasing a new frame (FM098), i'm deciding on a new wheelset. I know I should of did this the other way round, but the frame was too seductive.
Basically, I have a budget stretching from $400 to $600 and so far i've created a short list;

EDIT - Added Campy Zonda's, got rid of the Fulcrum R3

Pro-Lite Bracciano - $400 (Pro-lite Site)
27mm Rims, 1480 grams

Campagnolo Zonda - $425 (Wiggle)
26mm front, 30mm rear - 1550 grams

Custom Build - Approx $530 (BHS, but after bad customer service, I would put this into least consideration)
20 front, 27 rear, 1294 grams

I weigh about 56kg, so weight is not an issue. Carbon is a no-no (if there is any) because im in U-15 and I cant use carbon rims.
My current wheels came with the Reid Falco (No-name Shimano hubs and Alex Rims) so I guess any wheels costing above 200 is an upgrade :?
Can anyone give me a little help, please?

Wheels work best when they are all round :P
Just so you know, you can also get Campag Zonda's from Wiggle/c r c/PBK and they are basically the same wheel as Fulcrum 3's but closer in price to the Bracciano's
I don't have any experience with the Bracciaono's but I'm happy with my Zonda's

You left Zonda off your list. http://www.this link is broken/campagnolo-zond ... lset-2012/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

For me, it's Bracciano vs. Zonda. I would love to see a comparison.

Just for the record I had excellent service from BHS. Great prices, order shipped quickly and excellent online chat providing information. BTW which BHS rim has a 27 hole drilling?

A lot of talk about Bracciano's here. How do these wheels stack up against Ksyrium Elite SSL wheels (possibly 2010 model)?

I heard that the hubs are inferior to other brands, is that true?

i have had mine for over 2 years, i am a clydesdale 95kg and have absolutely no issue with them, they are the same as the shimano dura-ace wheels but with ultegra level hubs not D-A.

Roll wonderfully well

For me, it's Bracciano vs. Zonda. I would love to see a comparison.
The Zondas definitely seems like a great wheelset, but dont you think having Campy wheels in a Shimano groupset is a bit weird?

No not at all, and I'm one of those guys that do like to match all the things. Can't have Shimano everything. Most wheelsets aren't Shimano so I don't see why not. They come with a Shimano hub afterall ha :mrgreen:

I'm in the other camp, I think campy wheels with a shimano groupset is weird.

You can always go Fulcrum - Campy own Fulcrum and some of their wheels are similar if not the same componentry with different branding and lacing.

But the Zonda's are about $100 cheaper than Fulcrums and if mixing brands really bothers you just peel off the stickers. Saves weight too :wink:

Peel off the stickers? What about the unique lacing on the rear wheel? :wink:

Seriously mate, for $400 I would go the Braccianos. Aussie distributor, quick delivery and product support and back up.
The best thing is, if worse comes to worse and you decide you don't want them, or don't like them, it's only $400.
