Sooo... im going to be upgrading my wheelset from my shimano r 550's
I was thinking of getting these hubs: http://www.tokenproducts.com/index.php? ... 170&page=4" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I want to get something that is fairly lightweight and aero. I was thinking 50mm deep. can i have some suggestions on spokes and rims please to make a strong, lightweight, aero, high end wheelset.

I weight around 75kg, have a budget of around $750, going to start racing soon so want something fast and zippy and lightweight for hill climbs. please give me some recommendations. all suggestions is appreciated.

If it was me I would pass on the 50mm deep rims and spend money on better hubs, laced into Velocity A23 or similar rims. Or increase your budget and spend money on Enve rims with Dura-Ace, Chris King, Alchemy or White Industries hubs.

Have a look at wheelbuilder.com for some ideas of builds.

Cheers
Dave.

You wont squeeze in decent hubs (as mentioned above) and carbon rims for $750 on a custom build, more like $850-1000 and that's with generic carbon, there will need to be compromise in that price range I think..
You'll have money to spare if you go down the FarSports route for example, generic rims, Asian hubs, good spokes.
You could go clo$e with generic carbon rims + WI h2 & h3.

Of course they would, a few to look at...

ZTR Alpha 400
H+ Son Archetype
Kinlin XR300 or XR 270
BHS C472w

You could lace up some sweet hubs and CX-Rays for the money.

All good suggestions. I have wheelsets with the Kinlin XR270 and BHS C472w rims. They are 27mm and 28mm deep, respectively. The wider rim (C472w) is preferable since it's more aero (due to tyre being flush with the rim), provides a more comfortable ride (I run 10psi lower pressures) and allows better cornering (a 23mm tyre is 25mm wide on this rim).

Lots of races have been and will be won on alloy rims :)

Cheers

Fancy hubs are overrated, cash is better spent on the spokes IMO ..... kinlins on 105 with cxrays alloy nips to minimise rotational mass, the generic carbon + WI is also a nice option if you trust cheap carbon.
