Recently (like last week) I finally decided to replace my SPD cleats (SM-SH51) as they where wearing out and REALLY loose, i was not to far from falling off the pedals, or so I thought.

I replaced them with my spare cleats (which are of the SM-SH56 variety) and man these are even LOOSER. I was worried I'd actually clip out while standing.

So for those who already have the non click R pedals, these cleats are definitely worth a try.

If the click R pedals are 60% looser ... I wouldn't know how you would stay in.

Regarding the Click R pedals, yes you really do stay in when you are pulling hard, it's not until you move your foot slightly sideways and pull that your foot is released. I was a bit concerned at first that they might pull out when really giving it some stick or on a hard climb but i've had no problem at all.

Another cautiously-optimistic prop for the Shimano Click-R system from me. I am a card-carrying gumbytron and after my LBS set me up with it and put me on a trainer for 20 minutes, I made it home upright and unscathed. Only one nervous moment after braking hard to avoid a pothole, but mostly it felt good!

There may have been a Liz Lemon-esque self high five in the driveway.
