Help me choose my bike ?

Postby theprophet » Fri Mar 22, 2013 6:52 pm

Alrighty heres the deal. I am buying a 2012 cervelo s5 team.

I can buy a used one from my boss who has looked after it with mechanical dura ace 7900, with dura ace c24 wheels and q rings.
I can buy a brand new one for $400 more it has ultegra di2, !! BAN ME NOW FOR SWEARING !! fulcrum wheels, but is brand new and I can get a good deal.

One of my thoughts was to get the used one and then eventually buy the di2 upgrade kit and end up with the better brakes, better wheels but will have spent a fair bit more money. But on the other hand if I buy the new one I will nuy some new wheels eventually and will probably have spent around the same in the end.

Unless your boss is willing to drop the asking price to something realistic, I'd go the new bike.

Sounds like you are under pressure to buy the boss' bike. To me it's a no brainer - get the new bike. If you need an excuse, tell him you wanted Di2.

$400 off 2012 used bike is not a good deal, I'd pay at most half of what the new one costs.
