Hi Everyone,
I am a total newbie in Biking. On my 2nd day of arrival in Sydney, I happened to stumble in the Trek Bike store and spent 700$ on a Fx series bike. I loved riding on it for the 15 days I had it before it got stolen from my garage ... took me about 1 year to forget the pain ..now I am looking for a bike again (this time I will put it in my livingroom for sure).
Anyway, I did my research and figured out I need a flatbar bike to start on. I need it mostly for daily fitness riding, weekend riding along the beach etc till I gain the fitness to take it to the 15km commute to the Office. However, the Specs on my shortlisted bikes are just greek to me , specially the Shimano components , I can't really tell which one is better than the other. I would really appreciate your two cents on the following specs:

I'm no expert but the Cell has Tiagra front and rear deraileur which looks better than the others. Narrow tyres on both the Cell and Norco, I run 28mm tyres. The Cell is slightly lighter too. How much do you weigh as they look like they have either 24 or 28 spoke wheels and I would go for more if, like me, you are heavy.
If you are thinking these bikes can't do a 15Km ride to work I would disagree. I ride a flatbar 18LM each way to work every day.

Overall cell has better components where it counts in the running gear, and I agree with DavidS, I'd go with some wider tyres which they may be quite happy to fit for you if you ask nicely.

Running narrower tyres leaves you vulnerable to more punctures as you have to run them at a higher pressure. Personally I think wider ones also give you a more comfortable ride, and more of a margin for error on slippery stuff, potholes etc. If you ride on unsealed surfaces a 23c tyre is pretty skittish, whereas with a 28c or wider it's pretty easy.

any of those 3 bikes will be good for you, you need to take them for a test ride, if the bike shop wont let you try them move on to the next bike shop that will.
Your bum will tell you which one is right for you, you will be surprised at how different each one is to ride
and once you settle on the bike you can change out tyres and other bits as they wear out
Just get out and ride and enjoy it
