Questions about purchasing bicycles and parts

I am looking at switching over to Avid BB7 mechanical disc brakes on my mountain bike which I use for loaded touring. Anyway poking around eBay and there is a Chinese seller, jfstore1 selling a front and rear set of http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2012-Bicycle-Avid-BB7-Mechanical-Disc-Brake-Set-Front-and-Rear-160mm-G3-Rotors-/110972729217?pt=AU_Sport_Cycling_Parts&hash=item19d67d7781&_uhb=1 brakes for a pretty good price ...
A price which is too good to believe? Am I missing something here or are they worth a shot?

Sounds like a great deal on great kit Andrew.
Too great? Maybe. He has a good score but what's the guts of his feedback profile like?
...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

I purchased an AVID HS1 rotor from a chinese seller and it is definitely a knock off. Can't say what these will be. I have just mounted it to the rear of my recently built hardtail, so will see how it performs.
Any reason you want cable over hydro? Is it a touring/maintenance thing?
Always looking for new rides & ride partners in SE QLD area
Something you should know is that BB7s are supposed to be matched with G2 rotors, not G3.
Am expecting a fork from the same seller any day now. Has some good prices.
I have a set of BR-M495 calipers on order from an eBay sale. They were so cheap that they were practically free($15!). I already have levers for them. I will update you when I get them set up. They will be nothing compared to my kick ass hydraulic four piston M755's, but for the cost, I will not complain.
Thanks. Missed that.
The rotors are quite likely fakes (the ones that fibica sells are), but I don't think fake BB7 calipers exist. So they should still be good.
That said, I've used both fake HS1 rotors and genuine HS1 rotors and noticed very little difference between them.
I think I will just cough up and get the genuine product ... after all this is playing with brakes and really probably not something to play with.
The G3 was never supplied by Avid with the BB7's and the larger braking track on the G2 rotor matches the BB7 pads better then the smaller braking track on some rotors like the G3 and HS1 but Avid is now supplying the HS1 rotors with the BB7 Road SL, BB7 Road S and BB7 Mountain S.
Different pads and rotor combinations on the BB7's seem to have different recommended usage.
BB7 Mountain S comes with Organic pads and HS1 rotors.
Intended Use: Cross Country, Trekking, Comfort, Mountain.
BB7 Mountain comes with Sintered pads and G2 rotors.
Intended Use: XC / TRAIL / AM / FR / DH
Not sure if its still relevant as prices tend to fluctuate, but when I was looking for my Ogre, then bike24 was the go
Just spotted a sale on Jensons prices of $54.00
