I am looking at getting a power meter. The best bang for your buck option seems to be the new Quarq Riken, which I can pick up for about $1,600. The other options I looked at were Power2max (NZ$1,599), and Powertap. By the time you buy a reasonable set of wheels Powertap seems to be more expensive than the Quarq option.
Has anyone used the new Riken? Any thoughts?

I've got a Quarq Riken as well as the older Cinqo? model. They are very good.

I need a whole new crank to go Stages and the only option appears to be Hollowgram so may work out more expensive than a Quarq. Damn BB30.

From my experience, if u have a BB30 or BBright bottom bracket the quarq BB30 cranks are a good option with bugger all stuffing around.... Forget about running adapters etc as they are a pain in the ass...Bakks wrote:I need a whole new crank to go Stages and the only option appears to be Hollowgram so may work out more expensive than a Quarq. I've used the "wheels manufacturing" adaptors to install a gxp crank into a bb30 frameset - they worked perfectly and no creaks after a lot of usage (it was my wet weather bike).

My experience is completely the opposite.Dr_Mutley wrote: From my experience, if u have a BB30 or BBright bottom bracket the quarq BB30 cranks are a good option with bugger all stuffing around.... Forget about running adapters etc as they are a pain in the ass...

IMO trying to make a GXP Quarq work with pressfit BBright with wheels adaptors is nothing but a nightmare... I won't start on the issues I had, as we'd be here all day... If BB30 is more straightforward then I'll stand corrected...

The wheels manufacturing parts work perfectly, I rode them on my own bike for sometime and it was my wet weather rig. When I replaced that frame I went back to an English threaded bb which is my personal preference but it was more for ease of maintenance and compatibility with lots of parts that I have than because I had an issue with the bb30 setup.
I don't know how many places make these type of "adaptors" but you can be rest assured that they are not all equal.
