Bont Heat Molding

Postby Mr.W » Fri Nov 08, 2013 2:14 pm

G'day,
Few questions for all Bont shoe users:

I just purchased a pair of Bont Riots from a fellow member and will be receiving them in the mail early next week.

My questions:

- Are there any tips/tricks that you found assisted in getting the best possible fit?
- Did you find going through the process just once was sufficient or should I do it a couple times?
- once I have the heated shoes on my feet should I stand up to let it mould or just stay seated? Can standing while the shoe is soft deform it in a negative way?
- Is there a risk of deforming the shoe too much if I do something wrong?

I know I might be asking many questions about a process that seems fairly simple, I just want to make sure I don't wreck the shoes.

Any help is appreciated.

See instruction video below. I used an oven thermometer to get the temperature correct since the minimum temperature on my oven was 100 degrees celsius. You need to stand in the shoes but not walk in them as this can crack the carbon. I only needed to mold mine once but a friend has done it 4-5 times.

I did mine about 3 times, using a oven thermometer, fairly easy. Don't walk /stand in them until they are cool though.

I did wear two pairs of thin cycling socks
