Stock transfers between bike shops

Postby m@ » Tue Jul 22, 2008 3:30 pm

Does anyone know whether bike shops ever do this?

I can buy from a not-so-local shop, but not my LBS; they are both dealers for the same manufacturer. Not sure whether bike shops buy in stock for the manufacturer, or only pay once the bikes have sold...

If it's a chain store (cannot think of a bike shop that is a chain store) like Grace Bros then probably....but diferent entities probably not, though I am sure it could be arranged, but both shops want to make a profit so you might pay two sets of mark up fee's.

Is buying direct from the non-local shop an option? give them your credit card details and postage address?

I think that might be the go - just wanted to support the LBS if possible as they've always looked after me when I've needed running repairs or parts in a hurry...
