Mudguards for Cross Bike

After the abortive attempt at rain this week in Perth, I pulled out my mudguards to check them over and put them on the bike. I Found the Topeak rear guard (forget what model) had cracked basically into two and I need new guards. The thing is, with a cross bike (2012 TCX) I don't have anywhere (bolt hole etc) to attach SKS or similar types. Also running 25/28mm tyres makes these types of guards too small (I think).
I found the Topeak mudguard quite good (attaches around the seatpost/top tube) but one season is not good enough IMHO. Can anyone recommend mudguards that solidly attach to the frame (not zip ties preferably) and should last. Mainly interested in the rear as I found the rear causes most of the mess to me and have even less options up front without going dodgy or modifying the frame.

Thanks in advance.

Ive got the Zefal rear mudguard which just attaches to the seat post - no tools required. I use 28mm tyres and it stops crap from flinging up off the rear tyre. Pretty cheap too from memory.
