Help - New to Cycling

Postby MarkJ1 » Tue Jul 29, 2008 9:13 am

Hi, This is my first message on this site so let me introduce myself. I am a 28 yr old male from Melbourne VIC. I have just started to get into riding. I have not done much in the past, so I would be new to this sport.

My friend has a spare bike he is willing to sell to me. It is a Avanti Kona Pro Series '03-'04 model. The bike is the correct size for me. He is wanting under $500.00 for it.

I will be using the bike 2-3 times a weeks, short distances to begin with.

Do you think this is a good purchase for a beginner?

Thanks,

Mark.

G'day Mark,

Welcome to the forum and to riding - I'm sure you'll enjoy both. :)

A bike like that sold on ebay recently for $475, so $500 is not out of the question. See if he'll take $450, but I'd still rather pay $500 for that than any new bike in the same price bracket. You need to check for wear and tear on the drive train though.

Cheers,
Graeme
