WT Borrow - PM pedals or Crank based for Specialised OSBB crank ?

Postby MichaelB » Tue Nov 14, 2017 3:41 pm

Hiya,

Odd request I know, but looking at trying something for a writeup with a Garmin 1030 unit for BNA.

It would be great to try some of the PM features of the unit, particularly for the writeup as a training/lead-in to the TdU Bupa stage.

Happy to 'rent them' for a reasonable fee if that is an option, or does someone have a bargain that they have laying around ?.

Let me know if you can help

Thanks

Michael B

What would you consider a bargain?

What's the pedal spindle diameter? Is the BB threaded or press-fit?

I have a set of Rotor 3D+ cranks I could loan you with a Power2Max PM. It will fit *either* BB30 or BSA bottom brackets - let me know so I can supply the appropriate hardware. You will need to supply your own 110 BCD five-bolt chainrings though. :(

Cricket , two responses !!!

(AT) trailgumby - the Frame I have is a BB30, so the crank would fit without issue. Chainrings are not a problem either.
What is the crank length ?

(AT) queeneg- a bargain is depending on what it is and what you want for it. Let me know and I’ll consider it :-)

I have an SRM PM-6 with 130bcd + 53/39 rings and a SRAM S900 crankset (GXP) 175mm crank length.

I’m asking $750 for the srm & gxp cranks. battery has over 1000hrs remaining. It’s been unused since April due to injury, and I am rebuilding the commuter bike with compact cranks, so this is surplus to needs. I have a p2max NGeco replacing it

Thanks, but $590 was closer to my limit, but the real killer is that it’s 53/39. I’m a compact guy, so TG’s great offer works better.

If I bought something the NGeco would also be what I’d consider.

Many thanks and heal well

Yep, same reason I am getting rid of it. Once the NGEco arrives I will have 3 x p2max meters, a Gen1 Stages on my trainer bike, plus the SRM! A bit OTT, so I am just doing a clean out while I can’t do any riding. See DVT Thread for that story!

Just to clarify a bit, it's a true BB30 (pressfit), and I have new bearings ready to go, just need the spacers to match (or I can source them myself). If I jneed to purchase a new BB (one of those threaded doohickeys, I'm fine with that if it works better).

Much obliged.

PM was sent as well.

(AT) queequeg- have organised the PM with TG (many thanks).

How much is your NGeco costing and where are you getting it from ?

I’ve seen in some places it’s US$590 or €590 (but the exchange rates are very different) for the Spesh/Cannondale cranks.

Cheers
Michae

Direct from p2max AU. I have bought it with a Rotor 3D24 crankset & praxis chainrings, which is $1299 in total ($1099 for the meter & cranks).

I should have it shortly, as mine is in the first batch that was due to ship a couple of weeks ago.

Spot on TG !!

I had a look at the P2M au site and they didn’t list the NGeco ( but admits I didn’t look hard and was on mobile).

This trial will be interesting to see if it’s worth investing in one. Keeping ng my eyes open for one on flea bay and other forums as a direct fit for my crank

Sam hasn't put the pre-sale up yet, as he hasn't got the shipment yet. Through incredibly lucky timing, I had actually just ordered another Type-S about 6 hours before they announced the NGeco. I was offered the NGeco in place of the Type-S instead, with the main thing I am getting being the Bluetooth connectivty (as well as ANT+), and I got refunded the price difference :-)

Since embarking on this and waiting for TG's PM to arrive, have been looking at various options to see if I end getting my own after the trial.

Interestingly, P2M de site has the Type S for the Specialized cranks at the same price as the NG eco (590 euro), and when the VAT is removed, it gets down to Euro 495, but the UPS delivery costs add on another 85, so it's basically A$900 delivered.

It seems that the best value crankset based version is the FSA Powerbox alloy at A$650 delivered, which essentially uses almost a NGeco PM, but you get the cranks, albeit a bit heavy as well.
Briefly looked at the Powertap C1, but they don't work with my cranks, so that shut that option down.

Be interesting to see how it goes once I get them on
