No way would I carry one of these and have no conventional pump. Probably best used as a substitute for CO2 canisters. Forget to charge it and you're stuffed. Most will leave it in their saddle bags and when they need it the battery will be flat.

It also looks more awkward to store than a simple pump or even a CO2 valve and cannister.

It looks from the description of what is included that the nozzle thing for the valve is removable. Just another step in packing up and a risk of loss.

The world of marketting these days is to develop a product and then convince us we need or want it. As opposed to manufacturers and designers coming up with products that were on our wish list before they even came to market. Fridges, torches, briefcases, waterproof clothing, fishing tackle boxes, even gears on bikes.

This comes under the banner of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should." If nothing else, li-po batteries are somewhat notorious for becoming explosive if subjected to, among other things, excessive vibration. I don't want a potential bomb anywhere near my bike or body!

Maybe it would be better if you could fill a compressed air chamber as you rode with the power from a dynamo...?

I'm fine with e-bikes, been trying to get my wife on one for years.

As for Di2/e-Tap/EPS, until I know what they are I have no idea if I like them or not. But I'm guessing that the simple fact of not knowing makes me not much of consumer.

Light, attaches to the bike and does a great job. Why would I want an electric pump? Not crazy about CO2 either given the waste.

Hand or floor pumps are infinitely rechargeable, and if they run out of air we're pretty well stuffed anyway......

I've used 3 cannisters in 4 years, and recycle the canister. If I hand pumped, I'd put in more CO2 to the atmosphere pumping away than the canister holds

If you want to use your own motive force, the hand pump was around before I was born. No need to store air, no need to add more complexity to the bike.

Hand pumps are great and all but you're missing the point about speed and convenience. I carry a couple of CO2 canisters so I can fix a flat and roll in minutes. I carry a hand pump as a backup in case that fails but I loathe to use it because it adds ~5 minutes and a bunch of fatigue to the repair process. I'm looking at this from the perspective of someone who wants a very fast, low effort and convenient repair with the minimum of waste. This probably isn't it, neither is a hand pump, but I'm interested to see people trying.

I'm very much old school, and carry a "Zefal #4 completion" full sized frame pump. Seriously, a lot of young guys don't even know what it is. I often get the comment, "wow, is that thing a pump!" when I stop to help someone with a flat.

Fixing a flat for me involves 5 or more minutes to get the tyre off/on and the new tube fitted (I like to be careful not to pinch, and to get the tyre well seated, so I don't overly hurry this) - but then less than one minute to manually inflate. So for me the re-inflation time is definitely the minor part of the whole procedure.

at 1/3 the weight, and 16cm, I use a topeak micro rocket. brilliant thing.
if you ride a roadie and don't have the fitness to manually pump a 23mm tire to 110psi in less than 90seconds, then.... cognitive dissonance.

the other option is to get fit enough to ride heavier puncture resistant tires!
