VAT from bike 24

Quick question re paying tax. Am about to buy wheels for about $650AUD from Bike24...it states in the shopping cart that VAT 10% is included. Will I get stung GST when it gets to Australia? Never bought from bike24 before and hate nasty surprises!

No, they collect the 10% from you, it is included in the price you pay, not on top of the price and send it to ScoMo , there is a reference number on the shipping label. I am getting a bit from them now, very big range and cheaper than wiggle etc

Sweet. Was making sure. Just got a frameset from Merlin which I had to pay gst on arrival (I knew I had to pay) but it's the other $130 of extra fees which left a nasty taste in my mouth!

You do need to watch out, as the inclusive GST is supposed to only be applied if your order is less than $1000.

If you order from Bike24 and the total value is over $1000, GST and Import Charges are assessed at the border. If you already paid GST at the point of purchase, you need to make sure you have proof of that, otherwise customs will charge you for it again.
