Spotted a 2016 Defy Advanced 1 for $700 - My first thought is, that seems dodgy AF.....Would I be right in this assumption? Has the usual "Hardly ridden" spiel
I've asked for further information, but surely a 2 year old full carbon bike with Ultegra is going for more than $700.
Other question is.............Anyone had this stolen recently?

Does the ad have a picture of an actual bike or a copy/paste from a web site?fergy1987 wrote:Spotted a 2016 Defy Advanced 1 for $700 - My first thought is, that seems dodgy AF.....Would I be right in this assumption? Has the usual "Hardly ridden" spiel

Is there a mobile listed, is the seller profile a new one or has it been around for a while? It sounds shady but then again could be someone who wants to shift it or is ignorant. Maybe a link to the ad would help..

Having had a squizz around, I'm seeing a couple of smaller ones, a 2015 and a 2016 for around that money on Gumtree ($700-$750) but I also saw someone trying for $650 for his old OCR. As much as I like the OCR, I ain't paying anyone $650 for one.

Ad is on Facebook Marketplace (not usually the best place to buy things for starters)10speedsemiracer wrote:Does the ad have a picture of an actual bike or a copy/paste from a web site?fergy1987 wrote:Spotted a 2016 Defy Advanced 1 for $700 - My first thought is, that seems dodgy AF.....Would I be right in this assumption? And nope, 1 picture, looks like its from a UK website. First question I asked was where are the pictures of the actual bike lol. Because the colour scheme looks like it was only available in the UK.
I shall await the response, but yeah looks more trouble than its worth I think.
Oh also forgot to mention, its the Disc Brake model too so I imagine that would bump the price up as well

Yeah, that would definitely push it into 4 figures, and coupled with the generic pic, I think you've nailed it.

On the flip side.
I recently won on bid at the great auction site two bikes which were claimed to be hardly used.
After I had picked them up, cleaned and adjusted them it was obvious that these were brand new - maybe had been ridden around the block.
Turns out they were a prize. 4 years ago - The seller had all the intention of getting into cycling but......
Very reputable seller.
