Warburton - Lake Mountain Classic (9 Jan 2016)

Dave Harrington is organising a brilliant (if slightly intimidating) selection of rides out of Warburton next January. Great preparation for anyone doing the Alpine Classic, and a qualifier option for anyone who wants to do the ACE 250 or Ultimate 320 rides. Distances of 120km, 150km or 200km; sealed and unsealed options available. They're partially supported: food is provided at the Warburton checkpoint.

I'll be doing the 200km: up Lake Mountain, down to Buxton, back over the Reefton Spur to Warburton and then finishing with a climb of Mt Donna Buang for good measure.

Would love to come down for this weekend but already flying down at Xmas and doing a road trip down (from Brisbane) for Alpine Classic, so finances don't permit unfortunately.
Such a great part of the country to ride in.

I've been eyeing this one off for a while.

Still not sure which one I'll do. The 200 would be good preparation for Alpine Classic, but the 150 km dirt route over the Acheron Gap really picques my interest.

Had trouble registering for this one, as it was the first one I had done through Register Online with the new membership system (Wild Apricot). Eventually tracked down the problem to the days and months of my date of birth being switched around (although it is entirely possible this was user error when paying my annual sub to Audax).
