German Doco film 'Brevet' on the 2015 PBP.

Postby HappyHumber » Sat Jan 09, 2016 12:24 pm

Nice looking German doco film "Brevet" on the 2015 Paris-Brest-Paris.

I shared this elsewhere the other day, but I see they've just released a longer ~3minute preview - which typically tantalises even more. Thought I'd pass on here as well. I can't seem to embedd the video. So here's the direct link to the official page.

Do the ride. I have a feeling the movie will be more enjoyable but the ride would be more satisfying.

Just seeing this longer preview (the first one was pretty brief, with less dialogue) got me fired up. My personal best is (still) only a couple of 400km a couple of years ago; but to see the sort of sentiments 'why we do it' & 'what gets you through' etc expressed in a nice glossy format like this that I've had more casually with ride mates is fantastic.

I was keen to to my bit for the viral marketing of this film. I hope it serves to some degree as a bit of marketing to those otherwise uninitiated or oblivious to the sport.

As Casey Stoner famously said to Valentino Rossi "Your ambition outweighed your talent". Not suggesting it in your case  , but your comment above took me back to that confrontation!

about 5 months remaining to qualify for 2019, then 2 months for training, guess we need to get cracking.....the movie has moved, http://curlypictures.com/work/brevet/ or at vimeo https://vimeo.com/151520825 (select "watch trailer", has english subtitles), looks great in full screen

I actually purchased the stream, AUD15.99, have watched it half a dozen times already, just like being there, would be good as familiasation if you were entering and hadn't done PBP before

Have you been able to watch the extras with subtitles? Seems to be a few grizzles from English only speakers about this on the vimeo page

Yes, English subs extra version works perfectly, it is only the three short extra interviews that don't have subtitles. It's great full screen as it is in HD, very clear, I often stop the steam to closely study a bike.

There seems to be a bias (in the preview at least) towards classic steel. But.. having been involved with the Perth Albany Perth last year I just loved the crazy variety of bikes and setups participating.

And in the full movie but that seems to reflect the types of bikes used for Audaxing in Europe, lots of steel, leather saddles and big bags, but a fair bit of minimal equiped carbon too, lots to study, lot of variety of bikes, people, nationalities, ages and all, very varied lot.

A still from the Brevet movie, mixed group of French & German riders with steel bikes, leather saddles, fenders, big front rack bags but most of the group did impressive sub 70 hour times for 1,230kms and the person second from the right sub 50 !!
