Starting in Parramatta Park riders travel out towards Windsor. The 150 visits Kurrajong, the 200 gets to Springwood, the 300 has you riding a small loop at the back of Lithgow and the 400 is a trek to Bathurst and back.

Looks good Rob. A link for the lazy http://www.tinyurl.com/2016wingitwest

I am feeling inadequate after Grant White has ridden not one but two 600s so will have to see if I can find some time to get out. Don't think I am ready to step up to a 300 yet & am fairly sure I won't be able to find the time. Bigfriendlyvegan do you have a 150 badge yet ?

No, and Wing it West is perfect for a 300 attempt, BUT soccer season has sucked up all of my Saturdays, and I'm not happy about it.

Actually, I'm thinking of doing the 150 on a mixed terrain permanent, once soccer has finished.

reports from last years 300km distance riders is that the 300 is particularly hard.
We have 2 riders doing the 400 so far, I'll be on the 200. The way I feel now I might make about 20 of that.

I did a large part of the 400 route over 3 brevets earlier in the year. I was hors delai on every one, but it was a great long weekend of cycling. Not sure I want to do it in a day though :-)

As there is only one mixed terrain 150km permanent, we will be talking to Rob about Push'n the Wheelbarrow

That settles it - a day may come when I attempt a 300 or 400, but it is not this day.

That's the one. I know you're up for it. I've just got to find a spare Saturday.

Slightly OT, but hows the online ride registration trial been going, guys?

I've got a local Ride as RO coming up on the same date here in Perth. Wouldn't mind giving it a go, if the regional Brevet Secretary and the National powers that be are agreeable.

Go for it. It works very well. The RORT creator makes the whole process for a RO much more simple.

I'll be happy to ride with you Bruce. I have not done that sort of distance for a while, so this one will be good!

Hi Rob, if I have counted my fingers correctly the 150 finishes by 4:30 pm. Does this mean we don't need to comply with the lighting requirements ?

But doesn't the ride start at 6.30am and sunrise is at 6.49am, so I would have thought the lighting rules would apply.

the lighting rules will apply, sorry. I know it is only 19 minutes before sunrise. I've started the 150s later in the past but decided to get everyone away at the same time this year.

The road through Hartley Valley near Lithgow is magic. I rode that earlier in the year, but only coming up to the Causeway. The gravel road was a bit tricky as it was covered with piles of loose rocks and dirt, so picking the right line was important.
The climb up to the causeway was a solid 9.5%, but the road surface is horrendous and best descended at a very low speed (unless by come miracle it has been resurfaced).

Sadly, I'm doing the Ken Dinnerville on Sunday, so that rules me out. I will, however, be commencing my long distance training in June/July to build up to the Fitz Challenge in October where I'm aiming to better last year's finishing position of 6th rider home.

Afraid not, Saturday is booked out already, I shall have to start monitoring this part of the forum as I could have got in earlier. Enjoy the ride.

As well subscribing to specific threads and whilst it's still relatively low traffic you can actually subscribe to the sub-forum of Audax / Randonneuring; which is what I do myself.

Browse to the forum/subforum page, choose the 'tools' drop down and select 'subscribe forum' I think if all of a sudden we get a rush on of posts, I'd likely unsubscribe but I'm happy enough with the amount of notifications I get for now
