Changing 6770 Rubber Hoods

Hey guys,
hope this isn't a silly post... but I can't seem to get the hoods off my levers! I don't intend to cut them... trying to pull them off however, has been quite a task. I've stopped for fear of ripping them up! I got replacement hoods (colored ones) and want to put them on, but if I can't get them off, how'd I put the new ones on?

Anyone here has had experience? Cheers!

Take the shifters off the bar & pull the hoods off the back of them.

Disconnect the cables, then undo the mount bolt so the lever assemblies just come off, leaving the clamps, outer cables & bar tape in place. Flip the peak of the hood back, then simply work the hood back of the body. They're quite stretchy, so will not tear.

Then reverse the process to fit the new hoods. A flat screwdriver can help stretch them over the broad base of the lever body. Feed the cables back in, tuck the hood body into the opening in the bar wrapping, then bolt them back in place.

Flat head screw driver all the way. Don't need to take the shifters off. They are pretty stretchy! I took a 10yr old pair off a busted up campy equipped bike and they didn't rip

Thanks, didn't even think of that. Plenty of choice on there.

Questioning the wisdom of getting white to match other components on my roadie at this stage (so I'll wait ).

Thats always an option mate! I would definitely get whatever color to match the components... hahaha... thats just me though!

Totally agree, my roadie is either black or white. My white bar tape is pretty dirty after less than a month though.
