Would definitely need to be more than one bike for me - can't think of a single bike that I'd be willing to spend 19k on. I'd probably go for a Cervelo P5 Tri config with mechanical Ultegra and an Eddy Mercxx EM5 with Campag Record.

An update, the guy ended up getting a Supersix EVO Himod Black edition with some fancy rims and updated to 11speed Di2, weight weenie parts like brakes, carbon seat and so on.

I feel like he bought a HSV, an overpriced/hyped commodore. But he is happy with it.

I'll have that bike thanks - seems pretty nice. Oh and a new GTS to go with it. 432kW has nothing to do with hype. ;) It is lighter than a new M5 too. ;)

But it's still built like a commodore. Not like a BMW.

On average if you sat in a BMW and then sat in a Commodore you will notice the BMW had better quality fittings with a better fit.

The only BMW with real quality is an S70/2 and neither you or I will ever afford one of those. Unless you've got $5mil spare.

He must have had some change left over from 19 grand though!

I reckon I could get a bike for all occasions, Track, Road, CX, TT and XC.

would rather 5 decent bikes than 1 or 2 that are ~$10k

but I don't compete

$19k - it'd be a decked out Scott Foil.. and the rest would go towards a new Kawasaki ZX-10R.

Technically both "bikes" :)

I believe I have worked out what I would do.

Performance ride.
Focus Izalco Max1 .0 – spec-wise, it runs Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 11-speed (with an internal seatpost battery) and DT Swiss DICUT RR 21 wheels and Fi’zi:k carbon R1 components.

Bling ride.
Colnago Master running Campagnolo super Record and Campagnolo components.

only coz they can amortize the cost over 250,000 units versus 30,000.

i'd thank my lucky stars that i had 19k to spend on bikes and buy whatever the hell i fancied on the day!
seriously, if you're not earning money cycling, and you have 19k worth of bikes, you can do what you want..
i'd buy a cinelli supercorsa with 11s record, a new colnago master with 11s record, and a LOOK 695 with, oh, i don't know, maybe 11s record.
might just scrape it in, if i buy one set of decent wheels.

If I had 19k to spend?

Perhaps a BMC Impec with Dura Ace 9000 Di2 and Lightweight Obermayer Limiteds?

Maybe a Colnago C59 Italia with Super Record EPS and Campy Bora's?

Although I'm pretty sure the Impec would be more than 19k.

Regardless I'm happy with my custom Wilier GranTurismo that cost me a quarter of that price!
2013 Wilier GranTurismo- Dura Ace/Ultegra
2011 Orbea Carpe- Sora/Tiagra

Peter Sagan showman appreciator!
