clicking sound

I'm getting this clicking sound only when I start to push down hard on my cranks, if I peddle light and stay around 70-80 rpm and not use any real pressure its fine.
But as soon as I start going hard the clicking is non-stop and doesn't matter if im in the small or big ring.

I pulled off the crank last night and re-greased it in hopes that might solve it but it's done nothing !

I run a madone 3.1 with sram force carbon crank, with 105 shifters, ultegra chain/cassette, tiagra f/d & 105 r/d

This happened to me. I cleaned, greased and tightened the chain ring bolts to the recommended torque - problem solved!
Warning - your issue may not be the same!

Bottom bracket perhaps??? It could be any number of things....

Might be worth taking it into your LBS and get them to check it out.

Check your headset. Just one of a multitude of things it can be (but quite high in the ranks of probability).

Another vote for bottom bracket. My MTB did this recently. Sound travelled a long way though, couldn't work out where it was coming from until I dropped the chain off and turned the cranks by hand and found it wasn't smooth.

Edit: but it could be plenty of other things.

I had this problem once. After extensive tightening, adjusting and lubing the solution presented itself...... a dry, creaking headstem mounting.

may sound silly but I figure out how to remove the bb? it's a GXP one fyi

Start with the simple stuff - clean and grease the dropouts, make sure the skewers are tight, grease the handlebar clamp, adjust the headset, grease the seatpost, check the saddle rails.

I had a very light tick tick while I pedalled , mine was from the pedal threads just needed more grease on the threads.

I roughly re-greased my bike around 3-4 months ago.. Ill check the bike again today and If I get no where ill take it to the LBS

I had a similar issue over the last couple of weeks. I cleaned and regreased the drive train, made sure everything was tight, but it wasn't until I took the pedals off to try another set, then refitted the originals, that the ticking went away.

+1 for this. Increased cadence/power will likely see you exerting more pressure on contact points - I've found saddle rails can cause this

i might try that but in saying that I use 2 sets of wheels and the pair I use on long rides are not that old

Hmm, got a couple of clicks every now and then on the last couple of rides. I've now taken the pedals off again and am trying a bit of silicone based dry lube on the thread. That outta fix him...

It you have a press pin chain, it could be that too - when I first replaced my chain it clicked on rotation, which changed all the time with gear changes which made it harder (initially) to diagnose as it wasn't consistently rotational. In any case, after some searching I found it to be the potential problem and after realising chain position would determine a change of timing, I replaced the pin and all was well again

Must be the season for clicks. I got one that only comes in after 20kms or so, has to be drive train related as it is only there when peddling and it sounds like the chain touching the FD but there is plenty of room but it is not every rotation or point on the chain. Got me buggered and I have inspected everything but I think I will replace the chain. Gees I hate clicks

well an update: I have since replaced the Shifters, F/D & R/D and still the click remains!
next to go will be the stem and seat post.. so a slow process of elimination

I'm starting to get to the age where I have to check for clicks not on the bike . Although, thanks to the cycling, I'm in pretty good shape for a MAMIL .
