Bike Maintenance books
Postby TREKKER_MIKE » Sun Aug 18, 2013 4:16 am
Does anyone have a bike maintenance book that they could recommend.
I don't mind putting the bike in the shop, but it would be good to be able to DIY on my bikes and the kids bikes to keep them in top working order.
A friends father had a really old Bianchi (in purple) and that was like brand new because he was always looking after it with proper maintenance.
I have always liked the"dummies" books, but thought i would ask here.
Or
Does someone recommend a course

These are the two I was going to say. These and the interwebs, as well as actually doing stuff is how I've learnt.}SkOrPn--7 wrote:"Zinn the art of bike maintenance" is another.

Another vote for these. You can sometimes encounter them in bike shops.WestcoastPete wrote:RonK wrote:The Park Tools Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair. These are the two I was going to say. Probably best to change your LBS if their copies have a suspiciously large number of greasy fingerprints on them.

On another note, what are these things called "books" you refer to? Are they an early beta of the Internet?

I am from the era of PC's, but technology will fail and let you down. A book wont
Books, i can repair something outside, and not have to have my laptop around all the grease and tools
Maps - GPS can send you down one way streets, no right turns etc, or send you on a route that is slower, i like to open the book, use my map reading skills.
You see people at night blinded on the road with the GPS in their face. How can you see the road i ask
