Where can I find a sexy Italian?

Postby Ranchu » Fri Jul 25, 2008 11:45 am

Hi all

I've got it in my head that I'd like to restore a 70s or 80s Italian steel road bike - preferably an old Colnago. I've been keeping an eye out on Ebay but haven't had much luck there. Any ideas where I should be looking. I'm located in Brisbane.

cheers...

There are stacks on Ebay. Quite a few Aussie ones turn up if you wait long enough. If you see something nice overseas, I would recommend getting one from Europe. Shipping from the US is insane, and the UK can be costly, but Europe is quite reasonable. I've bought a number of bikes from Italy and Germany, and I've never paid more than $150 (which was for a frame, 2 wheelsets, full groupset, and some other spare parts).

I've got a contact in Italy who is pretty good at tracking down my hard to find bits and pieces. His prices were better than ebay too. If you PM me, I'll give you his contact details.
