It wouldn't be pretty. There's nothing as fetching as a middle aged man dressed in lycra trying to dance whilst sober.

The oysters were straight out of the water and freshly shucked, very hard to beat. The stouts were good as well, but between them and falling off earlier in the week my mileage has been suffering.

I'm chasing 1000k for the month as well and need 182km more, Will be close, but if I can squeeze in a few more early morning rides I should get there :)

I am going to be happy with 600km for the month. With the wind and work getting in the way over the last 2 weeks I missed out on trying for 1000kms.

Still it's the most amount of kms since my shoulder op in March.

I'm only getting 600 a month with the shorter ride in to get to work on time. Lucky I'm already ahead, might have to reduce the target marginally next year. Still, should hit 5,000 by the end of the month.

Been trialing some new rotor rings on my shimano 105 setup, there rotor q rings compact ocp3 50x36, seem to be promising so far :) good on the knees and seem to be a little easier on the hills, so maybe what they say about these rings could be beneficial, we'll see. :?:

Managed to get past 5,000 today even if I did have to put up with the storm this afternoon. Woohoo.

Despite the incessant wind - almost got blown backwards whilst rolling DOWNHILL today...lol...I cracked the 1000Km for the month and am just under 8k for the year now. I certainly hope that all of this riding into the wind is making me stronger?!?!?

Racing tomorrow and the local shop/club ride Sunday to warm down.

They say the weather will be warmer here over the weekend - hopefully the wind will die off too.

Have a great weekend all and keep pumping them out!

cheers

Well done Macca!

I'm heading down to your neck of the woods next weekend to do an audax ride out of Port Franklin. Apart from the wind, how's the weather? - should I pack for coolth or warmth or both?

Just saw the date mate - 7th of September - you would be well served by bringing coolish to cold weather gear. You may snag it for a 20 degree day and sunshine, but that would be the exception rather than the rule - which would be cold, windy and sideways rain!!! Good luck on the ride - how far you going?

Righto, I will take a selection of everything and pray for luck! I'm doing a 400 to finish off my Audax super series. I have been avoiding it but now I must.

Thanks SSS, I'm looking forward to riding some new roads and I love a road trip so am quite looking forward to it. One of the great things about audax is going to different areas to ride. Keeps it interesting.

Report for August:
Better month than same time last year (432km); training up for Amy's Gran Fondo (110km + big hills!) in 2 weeks and Around the Bay (210km) late October.

610km for August (3,933km YTD; target would be 4,000km)
7,722m climbing (39,416m YTD; target would be 40,000m).

Q: Should I do 69km between now and midnight, or take Mrs C+W out for dinner?

I didn't make 600 for the month. Fell 30kms short.

Will try for 600km in September.

I was falling behind due injuries and illness in the past couple of months, so Aug was my catch up month. Just completed my first ever 1000km month. You guys who do that every month, my hat is off to you. It was hard yards, yet really enjoyable - easy to say now that its over :D

Al least I start Sept 50km in front. :o

Cheers

Tony

I fell short of 1000km this month, and could only squeeze in 931km with 10467m of up. Fairly pleased with that as I had a lot of non cycling stuff on in August and only had time for 1 long ride. Looking forward to September :-)

931 / 10467 is decent riding still Grant - nothing to sneeze at, at all.

Glorious day down here this morning and into next week - I'm on nightshift, so it'll be difficult, but am hoping to get out for 2-3 rides at the very least

cheers
