Does this mean it's been re-added? If so, I guess I'll be placing two orders in one day. Love your work, Mark. :)

Just thought I'd add a quick comment on my Swift. It was the replacement for the bike that got splatted in my accident. Mark looked after me from my initial email right through to the purchase of the bike and a few other bits'n'pieces.

Over 1,000km later, the bike is all I could wish for as my first roadie and I still enjoy getting on it every time I'm hitting the road/paths.

Thanks to Mark and Cell.

Hi michael_w, hope you're healing up well! That Twitter pic of you in the hospital really made me quite angry towards inattentive drivers!!! Please notice I said "inattentive", as that is the most important thing that when ignored, can have devastating results.

I think the X% off category specials is just too generic, and does not standout unless its 50%+ off. People have been conditioned to see 10-20-30% off pretty much everywhere. Therefore if there is a specific special that actually a good deal, it will get more attention. So my recommendation is to put a few loss leaders up front, and then make the returns on the other bits and pieces that people buy to make the shipping worthwhile.....

I call furphy on the Netti Diva Prime Jersey having a RRP of $139.95

http://www.cellbikes.com.au/Netti-Diva- ... gory=60022

Why do cell boost these prices just to make a >70% off claim in their newsletters?

Can we PLEASE just go back to naming specific items with specific prices? I'm going to unsubscribe from your newsletters altogether soon if this practice doesn't stop soon. It's quite annoying.

Hi thomashouseman,

We had a mass import of a spreadsheet and some prices and rrp's were crazy high, and crazy low.

As we can only fix problems once they are brought to light, all I can say is, we can only do the best we can do and then action things when we are aware of them.

We have a skeleton crew and do the best we can with what we have, so that may mean that pricing issues with RRP's and even the sale price will happen.

I'm sorry we can't be perfect, but we will always do our best.

Well when you send out a newsletter saying 70% off etc, can you at least check that item's RRP to ensure it's a proper 70% off, otherwise is SCREAMS of false advertising.

EDIT: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/ftw/Businesses/Advertising_and_marketing/Advertising.page
It is also an offence to falsely inflate the price of goods to give the impression that they have been discounted or are on ‘sale’. This means you cannot advertise that goods were previously sold at a higher price unless they were actually sold at that price for a reasonable time.

You're probably quite safe there in this instance though as there are no reviews, and I can't see anyone sensible buying the jersey for >$130.

Thanks,

T.

Thomas, I don't find the emails particularly useful either. I've started to have a squiz at the 48 hour specials the day before the emails would usually come up. I don't think there are any trading watchdogs that could or would bother enforcing advertising standards, especially for online retailers.

thomashouseman,

This is from Netti's supplier.

We are following the supplier's RRP's when we do product imports via spreadsheets.

As you can see, we are not manipulating any prices.

Wow! I stand corrected! Still think it's a ludicrous price and even shops like rebel don't sell jerseys that highly priced and they're normally one of the most expensive netti resellers.

Hi mate, for us, it's not about being 'right', but more that we want to show that we never purposely do anything 'dodgy', and if something dodgy happens, we appreciate everyone's help on this forum to identify it for us.

That being said...without naming any names...I just find it a bit ridiculous that some suppliers really make it hard for us to stay in the conversation with O/S competition regarding pricing and rrp...

This forum is full of intelligent people, and you cannot intentionally throw up an 'optimistic' RRP and get away with it.

Sometimes we get in trouble if we put a 'realistic' RRP, but then other shops complain to the supplier, and then we're told to 'put it back up'...politics?

thomashouseman - I take it that you will keep your Cell Bikes newsletter subscription.

Mark, I really appreciate the energy that you put in and thank you for your friendly manner in setting this straight.
As customers we can't always see through the doors which can lead to speculation and it is a real advantage to able have you as part of this forum - for you to be participate fairly and for customers to have a direct point of contact.

Yeah, I am.

I'm impressed with their feedback/honesty and how they seem to be taking the feedback onboard. While I don't like their new newsletter format that just says "70% off!" etc instead of naming items/prices like they used to do, a page or two back I picked up some incorrectly priced socks I think it was, and they acknowledged it and changed their price. (Note, I picked up this incorrect price because it was the "most reduced" and enabled their 70% off claim or whatever the discount was on that day.) Hence my dislike of the generic % off claims. Sorry if I came across a tad harsh, the socks got to me!

I now understand that a lot of what they do is "supplier forced" behaviour. See:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18699&p=1021929&hilit=cell+bikes#p1021692
and
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=18699&hilit=cell+bikes&start=50#p1002060

so although they try to always be the cheapest, sometimes they aren't allowed due to supplier restrictions. This is crazy! Not sure how suppliers can get away with it. Seems a bit unfair to the cycle shops. I've been told even Wiggle restrict imports into Australia on certain overpriced-in-Australia products too. Nutso. I'm used to dealing with this in the IT industry but had never realised it was so rife in the cycle world too.

I could never work in retail.
