Tour of Hope is happening on 8th September - I did it in 2011, nice ride.

They have a few different lengths this year http://www.tourofhope.com.au/2011/02/100_130k/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Interestingly, the longer routes use the Moggil Ferry to cross the river which is unusual.

Rob - looks like I will do the 130km tour of hope...

Also doing Moreton Bay 100 (Aug) Robbie's Grand Fondo (Sept) and Brisbane to Gold Coast (Oct).

I am likely not to do the Redlands Classic.

Great finish to the end of the year...

What else is on out there? BMW ride? Others?
Loving my Merida's and working towards adding a Pinarello to the stable... Go go go...

I probably see you there then Brett. Itll be the first time i've gone on that ferry so that will be fun.

If you are keen to revisit 'Tambo' after the McEwan ride...there this one:

There's also the 24//7 Cycling Safety Fund ride on this Sunday.

http://247csf.com.au

There are 25, 60 & 100 km options. It's a good ride, for a good cause.

Sad, wont be back in Aus until around Nov will definitely miss Robbie's ride, wanted to do it last year but didn't think I was fit enough, once back will have 6 months of riding Europe on my 30kg touring bike, 2 months in the Alps doing HC climbs definitely improves the fitness level, look forward to the Tambourine ride at least, another I passed up due to fitness fears.

I have just been looking at the route options for the TdT. (december 1st)
This year both the 50km and 100km options include the big dipper descent into Canungra and then the much more gentle climb back up to start/finish point.

Surely there is no better 50km loop in the south-east.
Just take care on the hairpin corners on the descent. :!:

I know i'll sound like a broken record but IMO that descent is completely inappropriate for a mass participation ride, it is just flat out dangerous. The only serious negative of what is otherwise a great ride. Good to see that the annoying loops on top of the mountain are gone for the long course this year, but it seems silly not to go all the way up to O'Reilly's.

Unfortunately the road past the Alpaca farm to O'Reillys is truly pathetic. Was up there last week and the condition of the road made the ride quite dangerous, plenty of pot holes. I don't think you'd want to take a serious number of riders up there as it'll cause havoc.

probably the reason why Robbie's gran fondo doesn't go down that side this year,
was a couple of crashes in the wet last year.

edit ,
OTOH, this is close to 100k

Ah ok, I haven't been up there since last year, it was in pretty good shape then. The big thing for me is that the average gradient is quite moderate, unlike the goat track.

For those that like country riding there is also the Rainbow Ride on November 17th. Although not Queensland it is easy to get to the start in the morning and is only about 1.5hrs south by Freeway at Byron Bay. Either do the 160km or the 100km. The rides are a beauty with a mixture of hills and coastal riding. Well worth it.

Luke I saw you at the start line (I was just off to your right, London Pride jersey), was going to scoot over and say hello after the start but was riding with a group and didn't think they'd be up for chasing when I saw you sat right behind the police motorbike!
A bit late but I finally got around to making a small comp of the start. Looking behind after 500m of casual riding from the start with my police escort and seeing everyone far off in the distance made my day. 100% made my day. Anyhoo after telling my police escort to drop back to escort the old ladies I decided to see if I could chase down the next starting wave. Well... Not really a question of if but when I'd catch them
