Looks like they altered the first lap for the 2 lappers. Probably to reduce some of the overlap with the 1 lappers?

1st lap exits (AT) mounts bay road & misses out mill point road / causeway, to reduce overlap I suppose. Can't try beat last years time now..... not that I've been doing enough lately anyway.

And not a single unicyclist! I do sprint around the section from the Narrows to near the Causeway via the paths (which makes it tough to keep speed) but I can't legally ride most of the roads they use. (Marked lanes mostly). I'd love to give it a try though - 53km is quite well within my daily limit given time.

Anyway Dan, I may see you again somewhere around South Perth. Good luck.

I'm looking forward to a sprint (relative to my form of ride of course) along the route from Canning Bridge to the finish. It's a good sprint for me that I have enjoyed a couple of times before.

Though I will need to behave myself tonight at the Lucky Shag.

We got a small group from our work doing the 53k ride. Our bikes range from a Pinarello a couple of Boardmans a Lemond/Reid/Raceline and a mountain bike should be good fun its our first ride together. we all in the slow group 20-25ks  , we not out to break records just finish and have fun. :D

Great weather for the ride today. Did the 98km in the 30-35 group.

Good to see so many out.

Killswitch - you obviously missed the lovely gusts I caught on riverside at the end:) rest of the ride was great.

Good to see they sorted out the 50/100 overlap. Last year I was in the fifty (and a lot slower) and it was pretty scary with the inexperienced riders and speed of some of the passing groups. This year I only saw the fast speed lines from the 50 in the 100.

Still too many wheelsuckers though.

You're right about the head winds. Got it twice with the 2 laps.

And yes, lots of tag alongs. We had our small team of 3, and as we passed some of the slower guys they would power on for a free draft....

All in all good day though.

A few drafters would have been nice, it was about 30 by the end of the freeway and 50 by the first hill past the yacht club where I had a mild bonk and they all ripped past.
The winds on the first lap were ok, normal for where i ride. it was the wind up for the sprint on canning bridge where that felt like a brick wall.

Pommieyeti - the way most people were riding (including me at times) I wasn't drafting much unless I'd worked out they knew what they were doing
