Spot on, my Kona Dewdrop falls into the same category.VRE wrote:Here's a beautiful bike. It's actually got numerous nicks and scratches, but faithfully carries me at least 300km every week, and has been doing so for almost 5 years . Due to wear and tear, the only original parts are the frame, handlebars, brifters and cranks. My pride and joy.
I'll throw this in as well, the pic does not do this bike justice.

That's lovely! But I do wonder, how will they hold up? Would laser cut lugs stand up to the forces a bike frame is subjected to? It's unlikely that they were work hardened in the process.Mulger bill wrote:When old meets new, 3D printed Ti lugwork married to cf tubing...

I'm really not sure what is so odd about a diamond-frame single speed bike with drop bars ???DoubleSpeeded wrote:You seem to like odd looking bikes and you sure like your "BLING"Mulger bill wrote:

Bog standard bike really, what I cut my teenage cycling teeth on (metaphorically speaking).

Bloody awful photo, but I like my bike. It's teh best teh iPad can do at present. Copped a bit of flak from the Velominati for my Rule Violations, but too bad, it's set up for night training rides, not for coffee shop posing.

Do you mean that custom red Gellie in your blog?On a positive note, things I like are single-colour paint schemes, straight-ish frame tubes (no curves or bumps), semi-compact geometry (slightly sloping top-tube) and wheels with shiny spokes and hubs and minimal (or no) aero .... and preferably no or minimal stickers/labels.

Possibly with a bit more bulk in some of the tubes .... it's a bit 'skinny', being steel and all.Uncle Just wrote:Do you mean that custom red Gellie in your blog?On a positive note, things I like are single-colour paint schemes, straight-ish frame tubes (no curves or bumps), semi-compact geometry (slightly sloping top-tube) and wheels with shiny spokes and hubs and minimal (or no) aero .... and preferably no or minimal stickers/labels.

Not talking about beauty there, I was questioning the concept of odd. It doesn't seem very "odd" at all to me (and most people I'd expect) for a bike to have a diamond frame and drop bars.DoubleSpeeded wrote:different standards and taste right?il padrone wrote: I'm really not sure what is so odd about a diamond-frame single speed bike with drop bars ???

Beauty on the other hand, that's a different thing, and very much up to the beholder.

hmmm still cant decide whether the S-works looks better than the Trekg-boaf wrote:The red doesn't do it favours - but I do look at the Shiv with a rather envious eye. they look much better in black.DoubleSpeeded wrote: i think its mainly the red and white colour that lets down the Shiv. THe trek looks beefy with the plastic Draft pack at the back
I think the 2014 model of Speed Concept range is out.
funny thing is... every manufacturer seems to bring out "the fastest bike in the world" or the "most aerodynamic"
in races theres only room for no#1 but i guess not in bike models and manufacturers
Like some people appreciate fast cars, I do the same with bikes.
