As it is all about the bike for me I thought I would share a few things


In December I will be riding around Tasmania with the Amy Gillett Foundation (Share the Road Tour) to promote ‘A metre matters’ and the ‘Recognise Campaign’

The past four editions of Amy's Share the Road Tour have raised over $960,000 to help the Amy Gillett Foundation work towards its mission of safe cycling in Australia and vision for zero bike-related fatalities. With nearly 40 bike riders killed each year and around 10,000 seriously injured, we all have much work to do to achieve our objectives while promoting cycling as a way of life for all Australians. Back in January last year I weighed in at a Massive 134kgs… and the only shape I was in was round (and you guessed it – round is a shape… so I thought I was in shape )… so I focussed on a lifestyle change… lost 50kgs… quit the smokes.. and in July last year I started to ride… and really it has just grown from that point.. couple of Duathlons and tri’s, a few 10k runs and a half marathon (1h42m) to set me on my way. My health has improved 10fold and last health checkup I had a full bill of health..

Over the next few months I will update each week with my training and hopefully a daily blog/update when I am on the ride..... the legs are looking forward to this!!!

Training… well over the weekend I put in a few rides focusing on the flats on Friday and the commute home (70k) Saturday I had to help lay a floating floor so I rode over and back (68k) Sunday some hills (70k) Monday flats again (70k) Tuesday rest day and Today a Bunch ride and commute to and from work (78k)

Packed in a few more ks over the weekend and joined a ride up to honesuckle and back... just a light roll NOT!

215.5ks.... 3400m climbing.... great bunch to ride with as well

legs felt good the next day and went for a small 47k ride..

Monday the body was a little bit sore but onwards and upwards!!!

Tour starts on Monday... Thanks to all that have helped so far we have raised $6785 and only $715 left to go.... Dig deep and support a worth wise cause

so the tour has been done and dusted!!! In 7 days I covered over 1000kms and over 11000 climbing metres (those hills were punishing)
