B2G 2013

Postby singlespeedscott » Sun Sep 15, 2013 1:05 pm

I've just signed up for this years B2G.

Given last and previous years train debacles I've decided I am going to ride back to Brissie after the ride. The problem is I'm a Northerner and have little idea as to the best way to get back to the Brisvegas CBD.

I would prefer a safer route versus just the shortest way.

I'm unconfirmed. I'll be at a wedding the day before. I could meet up for the ride back to Brissie but.... Boonah-Beaudesert Road has less shoulder space than the Steve Irwin Highway so more than likely I'll be riding around the very beautiful Laidley/Grandchester/Harrisville/Boonah/Rosewood-Ipswich area all day long and jump on a train back to Brissie once the legs give out/night falls haha :)

Based on previous years Luke I would be heading back around 1000-1030.

Hey mate, there'll be heaps of ppl you can join up with for the return trip.
Give me a yell if you want a Strava link, I plan to have a quick coffee and head home around 0815 before it gets too hot.

Thanks Damien the Strava link would be great. I'm actually planning to do the ride from home (north of Caboolture) to the Goldie and back. Should be around 300km so I'm not going to be in a rush.

I prefer coming back on the right hand side of the highway, then swap over to Logan Rd at Springwood Maccas.

Signed up with the thought of riding with the group I rode with last year. But after a couple of injuries and some general softness from some mates it looks like I'll be doing this solo.

Will be heading in from Mt Gravatt and getting a lift back, so should be about 120 for the day.

Interested if I can get close to the 36km/hr mark achieved last year.

I've scored myself in a group up the front. you guys should definitely try and get together. just sit on Luke's wheel and you'll average 47km/h or something

On any downhill runs you better hold on tight and try to stay in the draft otherwise I'll see you at the finish line... or the next red light :P

What downhills? The ride is flat as a tack.

Told you there was climbing on the busway :P

I'd like to see them change the route so its not following the highway. Would be better to head out towards Norwell/Jacobs Well IMHO.

Looks a just a little different to last year. Around Pimpama 68km park going up Yawalpah rd in lieu of following closer to the Motorway. Unfortunately got that bone rattling, rough as guts section around Stapylton.

Now the start times and maps have been posted plan to be there around 4.30 to get as close to the front as possible. Will be a long day.

Fingers crossed for good weather on Sunday. Looks like a great day for cycliing, although it seems we wont have a tail wind this year. At least the ride home will be better than last year :D . Probably wont beat my best time either.

Have a great ride to all that have entered. Cheers.
Work is something I do in between cycling.

Bikes: 1 x Steel 26” Cruiser, 2 x Alloy Roadies, 1 x Full Carbon Roadie.
It is unfair if only one bike gets all the attention.
