Which explains why M7/Westlink haven't issued a press release about closing the bike path. Still, the route does pass Prospect Canal which is supposedly closed. I also see the map shows the route goes down Silverwater Rd while the cue sheet says Holker, so go figure!

It isn't supposedly closed, it is closed. There are huge concrete barricades across the entrances to it. I see they are going along Victoria Street and then up Trivett Street onto Chandos and then following the usual Parklands track.

True. I've seen the actual maps - they are going quite a different route that bypasses the dam.

Did anyone go through what appeared to be a big blob of white paint at one of the underpasses on monday? I forgot to clean it straight afterwards and so am not having a fun time cleaning it today ;( ... anyone know what it is?

That white stuff was thicker than paint. I think it was space filler foam or something like that. It was at the under pass around Rooty hill way. My daughter rode here kids MTB straight through the middle of it and tyres are covered in it. Does it come off? It has gone hard now, so maybe I just let the tryes down and take it for a ride and it breaks up?

Hmm two times in a similar area within a couple of weeks. I think the local kids have found a new game to play...

Time to stake out the place and nab them in the act?

By the way Coops, take a look at this:

Might be useful for our bikes even if it adds some weight. I've been thinking of it for my Giant which seems to have a very delicate paint finish.

I rode the M7 on Sunday and no magpie attacks. Also wasn't attacked by the Waste Management Centre magpie on my previous ride last Tuesday.

Good news indeed. I've been taking a different route due to this damn prospect dam closure, so only using between Elizabeth Drive and Prestons or Hoxton Park and Prestons. :(

I'm having less encounters with magpies too. Hopefully now we'll have far more peace in our rides.

No magpies again today. That's my third ride since last Tuesday with no sign of the Waste Management Centre magpie.

Just letting you know at blacktown there is heavy smoke at the moment from the bush fires.

I would humbly suggest riding in this may not be the greatest thing for your health.
Not fast, no style, but still get there.

I can smell the smoke in the inner east! With the heat forecast for today I finished my M7 ride by 10am.

Yes I am as soon as I finish work - Would love a ride home but that involves Mrs Westab packing at least two kids in the car to come and get me. That said the extra kms I had planned are gone and I will be taking it easy.

I hoped to ride tonight on there but the smoke was too bad.

Hope nobody here is affected by the fires. If you are, good luck and stay safe.
