I'll have to think of some small way to mark the occasion.

I'm not a great consumer Roland. It just sounds like a burnt pizza to me.moosterbounce wrote:Deep dish carbon. Tiger Air... We can do it with less (but that's not sponsorship to aspire to)
P.s. congrats, I hope you don't surprise us with kiwi heritage to add to the cultural icons we think are 'ours' but aren't

310km to go
Postby ColinOldnCranky » Tue Oct 01, 2013 7:08 pm
Opportunity is a little less over the next week however as I am going for a drive down south. The uni will go with me but the days that I drive will get in the way. And without going to work some of the rationale goes. I'll see how it goes.

Still got another 173km. While it is possible to get there by Saturday or Sunday, I have a few committments in the way so I expect it'll be early next week.
I will most likely be riding the giraffe to the Ride to Work brekky. And I do not factor that one into my distance log. However if I make the 30k on my regular mount on Tuesday I can pretend that that the Ride to Work Brekky is put on just for me.

From memory late 2007. I have had to take off three bigs slabs of time post operative but, for the last two years I have been on a roll. I'm now plateaued at around 8,000km pa.. It is hard to see me finding more time or even to make sense of any further increase. I'm not getting any younger and at some time in the next few years I expect to start easing it down.visrealm wrote:That's a super achiement! How many years of commutes Colin?

It's not so much a difficult athletic achievement as it is a function of riding daily through all seasons. And a family that tolerates me leaving early for work and taking a day most weekends that is my own.
And, of course, an ability to shut out the agony of inflamation under the daks.

No, not a kiwi. But NZ is god's greatest creation imo.eldavo wrote:Ask if Qantas wants to give you frequent flyers for your km's to cover your euro trip, wear the kangaroo on your back.

I approached one of those firms that lease out those Prius that wear wear corporate garb and spirits adverts and so forth with the suggestion that I would be better value if they wish to sell to the cashed up lycra brigade. I figured that it would just require me to do what I do anyway.
I think three unicyclists riding up and down South Terrace in identical advertising garb would be hard to miss. And slow enough that people would actually know what we were promoting.

I am now including any significant rides (anything over a few kms) on the giraffe (tall unicycle, the sort you see performers sit atop). I did a confidence run on it on Saturday before Wednesdays Ride2Work brekky and, realising that I have the means to log distances without any extra hardware (I have a GPS that I hardly ever use - duh!) I logged 13km which is included in my total. I'll get to put somethign similar on Wednesday.

PS: Colin you ever had the Cinnamon Sugar French Toast with a coffee? Sounds like a hypo remedy.

Anyway, it'sofficial, as of the trip home last night. Looking forward now to the next 10,000.
I also got past my annual target on the same ride though I haven't logged that yet.

Sassy's, not Sally's.
No - just a small cake. Though the owner did add in a ginger-biscuit to fill the obdominal cavity a little more. Maybe I will try the french toast however.
btw the ginger biscuits are cut in the shape of a bike. Just for cyclists dropping in.
