I'm seeing some sort of shim/spacer thing on the inside of the left shifter, don't know what it is but it looks weird. Danger will robinson!

And on the Bertin above, i'm really glad to find out it is "not restaurated" . Destroys the value dontcha know.

By the way; Bike Friday bars are cut and then an inner sleeve is added so that the bar can be disassembled. Looks like the inner is bonded in somehow...

This model Giant had special handlebars to accommodate the Gripshift. The middle part of the bar went into the stem, then the shifters and outside parts of the handlebars clamped into the middle part, using something akin to a seat clamp. I worked on them way back, cant remember any problems with them, except for the fact that I didnt like the design of Gripshift shifters anyway.
