When elders has a rain forecast like that more often than not it means a possible isolated shower at some point. Im not a fan of rain either, but ill take a light shower or two, particularly if its 20+ degrees. If Mother Nature could be so kind as too centre it over the bay so we can ride around it then all the better. Low winds is nice, that along with a reasonably small swell (Willyweather doesnt have Sunday up yet but it looks to be up a bit on Thu and dropping after that) means less chance of a mate with weak guts getting motion sickness on the ferry. I wouldnt like to be having motion sickness on a ferry that fullskull wrote:Not keen on wet weather. But the temp and wind forecast is good.

I'm happy to leave it in the hands of the mods on this one though. A wind free day would be great..........or swirling winds that somehow push me the whole way. Pity the anti clockwise folk though.

Can you get anywhere near close to the designated drop off zone at Alexandra Ave and Anderson St, or am I better off getting dropped off a bit further away (like Batman Ave or even near Fed Square) and riding to the start zone?
Cheers,
Simon.

But this year while I'm recovering from this experience ... ... I'm doing the 100km from Sorrento with my wife, who'll have electric pedal assistance (may come in handy with the northerlies predicted for the day!).

I assume you'll have a short tow rope hidden away somewhere?clackers wrote:I'm doing the 100km from Sorrento with my wife, who'll have electric pedal assistance (may come in handy with the northerlies predicted for the day!).

Melbourne area
Cloudy. Scattered showers. Winds northerly 25 to 35 km/h shifting south to southwesterly 15 to 20 km/h during the afternoon.
sounds about perfect for the anti clockwise specially if the wind cahanges about midday

Not so good for those on the 135 however. I'm still kinda hoping for an earlier change - like around 8am (well, I can dream can't I?)rjk wrote:Min 17 Max 26 A few showers developing.

Nowhere else in the world can you perform your job so poorly and so inaccurately and still keep it.
I'm sure the forecast was different yesterday, will be different tomorrow and something else altogether on the day
I'm pretty confident that THEY are indeed incorrect, as I'm booked in for 210km Anti-clockwise, which almost guarantees that the winds will be Southerlies till I hit Queenscliff and then Northerlies from there on.

Alright, so when I'm riding into a headwind for 250km then I'll blame youDimis wrote: I'm pretty confident that THEY are indeed incorrect, as I'm booked in for 210km Anti-clockwise, which almost guarantees that the winds will be Southerlies till I hit Queenscliff and then Northerlies from there on.

That's really just too greedy. I'd be quite happy going over the Westgate as long as that's when the tail wind is blowing the hardest...PBF wrote:All I want is a tailwind the whole way around, and possibly for the whole thing to be downhill.

You should have got a # plate for the front of your bike (with the RFID timing chips on the back), nothing for your jersey though.djw47 wrote:I picked up my kit yesterday, I seem to remember there was a number for pinning onto the jersey last year, but nothing this year, is my memory playing up?

Yeah, that's what I got, I could have sworn there was a jersey number too last year, maybe not.im_no_pro wrote:You should have got a # plate for the front of your bike (with the RFID timing chips on the back), nothing for your jersey though.djw47 wrote:I picked up my kit yesterday, I seem to remember there was a number for pinning onto the jersey last year, but nothing this year, is my memory playing up?

Sounds fair enough to me. Maybe a bit of a grind in sections but no rain a definite plus.
