Shimano RS80-C24 Nipple Size
Postby zephyrus17 » Mon Oct 21, 2013 4:13 pm
The rear wheel on my bike is out of true, and I need to get a spoke wrench to adjust it. The wheelset is a Shimano RS80-C24. However, I couldn't find any information regarding the size of spoke wrench to buy. Does anyone know what's the size of the spoke nipple?

I have the Shimano spoke keys which came with my RS80 C24 wheels. I measure the size at 4mm. So perhaps better to buy a spoke key with multiple sizes, although you'll find the Shimano nipples are on the large size. You will also need to prevent spoke twist when truing as the bladed spokes need to cut into the wind. Shimano supplies a pair of spoke keys with the wheels and each has a slot to hold the spoke while tightening with the other.

If they use the same size that came with my shimano dura-ace c24 wheels then you can have one of my spare wrenches.

Same nipples (therefore tool) for both D-A & RS-80. They're 3.95mm.ProCelebrityGolf wrote:If they use the same size that came with my shimano dura-ace c24 wheels then you can have one of my spare wrenches.
I had a thought, but it got run over as it crossed my mind.

If you can't get the Shimano nipple wrench tool (no. 12) then the Park nipple wrench SW-3 will fit.
