Stem polishing - is this painted or anodized?

Postby Jean » Wed Oct 23, 2013 10:28 am

Hi,

I'm considering a polishing job. This is a leading contender for the stem, but i wanted opinions on whether it's painted or anodized. I don't think you can get a finish like that through anodizing, but I could be wrong. So I suspect it's painted.

It matters because I have to buy either some stripper or oven cleaner.

Cheers

Can't be sure but anodized I think.

You do know that stem comes in silver?

Hmmmm, that stem not shown on the Deda web site but all the black ones are anodized.

Yes, I thought all the black ones are anodized, and maybe they are, but the high gloss finish had me wondering if it was painted.

The only Deda silver stems I can find are the older Deda Quattro, the current Deda Murex (a quill stem) and the older silver-grey Deda Zero 100. If you can point me to any others I'd love to see them.

The Quattro is OK in silver, but I don't like the face plate much.

Yeah, that's the older Zero 100, which still to be found if you look around. It's not a standard silver finish, but a grey-silver.
